Born in Toledo, Ohio, Major Morgan gave up his U.S. citizenship
when he joined the Cuban Army. A presidential decree granted him Cuban
According to the article on the NYTimes (3/12/1961), Major
Morgan once frustrated attempts to overthrow Castro by posing as a double agent
in August 1959. The conspiracy involved former members of Batista's government
with "alleged support of the Dominican Republic."
In November 1960, Major Morgan and 12 others were accused of
sending weapons and ammunition to anti-Castro rebels operating in the Escambray
On March 11, 1961, Major Morgan and Major Jesus Carreras Zayas were
tried for treason in the afternoon and executed shortly after 10 pm.
